Getting an engineering education in Atlanta is likely to start with the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). With 65 tenure-track faculty, it offers the largest academic program of its kind in the United States. The institute also acts as host for other professional training programs sponsored by engineering groups such as the National Society of Professional Engineers. Students in Atlanta can also earn a dual degree where they begin liberal arts studies at Oglethorpe University, and then complete engineering coursework at Georgia Tech; a dual engineering degree program is also offered at Morehouse College. To address the under-representation of African-Americans in the engineering field, Clark Atlanta University started an engineering program in 1994.
